Italian Quartzite gives the perfect accents to the colors of the new cabinets. Full height backsplash behind the sink give the perfect accent to this area and the oversized island with overhang makes this a very functional space.
When using a full height backsplash it connects visually the countertops with the wall area creating a sense of continuity and an easy transition of your eye in this space. Adding another material in this case would be less interesting. this is a small galley style kitchen so more textures would make this space feel smaller.
Full Height backsplash was a great choice!

This has a bit more modern feel to the design verse the traditional smooth slopes and curves of the traditional undermount sink.
